We were able to take the opportunity to discuss Anthony with people and describe his music and what the concert was to benefit. People were very impressed that a man of his caliber was coming to our little out of the way area to do some good for our children.
Many people purchased tickets, some took flyers with the promise to phone with ticket orders, and several asked how they could help us. They took posters and information to deliver to stores, meetings, and friends.
It was also wonderful to find that there were so many fair-goers who were already familiar with Anthony and his music. We were able to exchange stories of our favorite "Anthony" songs, and how having him in Port Angeles is really a dream come true for so many people who have only seen him on televison and never thought they'd have the opportunity to see him in concert.
After arriving home at the close of the Fair Sunday evening, I received telephone orders for lots of tickets from people who had picked up flyers. They had phoned their friends, some of them from as far away as Seattle, to invite them to the concert!
It was a heart-warming experience for me, one that will pay off in spectators for our concert and new fans for the man.
Would you like to see the first printing of our newspaper ad? It came out, appropriately I think, on Anthony's birthday of August 17.
